Paradigm

In order to explore the edges of a theme and it's different vibes,
Future Mode of Operations started the Theme Tracks 2006 project 
in association with another electronic artist, Carbon14.
 Both FMO and Carbon 14 came up with 3 themes,
these were put together as a playlist for both musicians to work with.
This resulted in the album Paradigm, with 12 different tracks based upon the 6 themes.
A deadline was set for october 19th,
Carbon14 and FMO had to go public at the Paradigm release party
which was held at Coach Bertels his Cube.

The Themes were:

From Carbon14: "Brain storm", "Blind date" and "Meisje op paard" (Girl on horse).

From FMO: "Chill out at Eijkman's Cantina", "Rainy day" and "Politieke onrust" (Political disorder).

07 My Little Pony (FMO)

This twelve year old girl dreams about riding her beloved horse
along the beach, through a forrest.
But the dreams becomes violent
and transfers into reality when she wakes up screaming. 


08 Spectrum (FMO)

Based on the theme "Brain storm"

What's going on in the head of a painter
when he chooses colors from his pallet?


09 Blind Date (FMO)

Based on the theme "Blind date"

Daydreaming at the counter in the local pub.
About her.
And the things they would do.
Like rolling through high grass like tangled snakes.
But the bartender is more realistic:
"Hey man, wake up!
She ain't comming.
Want another beer?"


10 At Your Service (FMO)

Based on the theme "Politieke onrust"

Dedicated to the one man that could have healed Holland,
Pim Fortuyn.
His vision was shocking for some,
an eye opener for others.
He became populair, far too populair.
One man stood up against him,
with 5 bullets.
It was a conspiracy inwhich the shooter was offered less jail time
by the government, since he had killed before.
The right man, at the right time, for the right job?



11 Let's Have Lunch R2D2! (FMO)

Based on the theme "Chill out at Eijkman's Cantina"

Imagine, taking R2D2 out for lunch.
Coach Bertels was recording lunch once and found lots of high tones
caused by plates, glasses, knifes, forks and spoons.
Using a filter the noise became more electronic
while some of the conversation remained intact.
R2D2 is alife in this one!


12 Rainy In The Head (FMO)

Based on the theme "Rainy day"

Hot summers day.
Young women play tennis.
A dirty old man watches them from behind some bushes.
In his mind it's raining.
The girls wear nothing but boots.
Tiny rubber boots.....

Paradigm was created at the SHEM studios and Coach Bertels' his Cube during 2006.
